Frequently Asked Questions

If I join now, am I committed to becoming a Nextage agent?  Within 90 days of joining Nextage Realty, you are required to become a Nextage agent by affiliating your real estate license with a Nextage office or a Nextage approved LIFRO.

Does Nextage have a referral company with which I can place my license if I don’t want to actively list and sell real estate? Yes. Although Nextage does not own or operate a referral company, we do have independent companies approved by Nextage which will provide this opportunity. These companies, called Limited Function Referral Organizations or "LIFROs," allow referral agents to hang their licenses with them without the agents having to join the Board of Realtors, the local MLS or carry Errors and Omissions insurance (if your state law allows). Agents who have a license with a LIFRO will not be able to actively list or sell real estate, but may refer business to an active Nextage franchisee or agent or to any other real estate brokerage, if a Nextage franchise is not in the area, and earn referral fees at the successful closing of the referred transaction. A referral agent whose license is held by a LIFRO will also be able to build a Nextage sales team and earn sales bonuses on the production of that team.

I have an active license with another company.  Can I join Nextage today without jeopardizing my license? Yes. Since you are only making application to become a member of Nextage Realty and won't actually become active until you affiliate with a Nextage office, it will not affect your current license. However, you must transfer your license to a Nextage office or to a Nextage approved LIFRO Company within 90 days of joining Nextage Realty. You can start to build your team but you will not be eligible to receive any sales bonuses from your team's production until you affiliate with a Nextage office or a Nextage approved LIFRO Company.

I’m not currently licensed.  Can I join anyway?  No, you must have a real estate license.

Can I build a team where the agents are in multiple states?  Yes. Just as there are no limits as to the number of agents you can have on your team, you are no longer limited to your local marketplace. You can develop a team that includes potential Nextage franchises, brokers and agents across the nation.

In which states is Nextage Realty approved to offer franchises and to do business?  Nextage Realty is approved in all states with the exception of North Dakota and South Dakota. If we have interest in these states in the future, we will revisit the approval process.

Does the Company have plans to expand internationally?  Yes.  We have great interest in developing the international market and plan to do so in the near future.

How much does it cost to join Nextage?  The current membership fee is $125. For each subsequent year, there is an $80 membership renewal fee due on your anniversary date.
